Improving the Museum Space and Experience

If you ask an average person to describe the technical elements of a space—how big it is, where the exits are, the height of the ceilings—they might be able to offer a couple of guesses. But, even more telling is how they describe the emotion of a space and how their bodies move throughout it. Art is no longer a colorful tableau affixed to a wall, but rather has transformed into the start of an exciting story that nods to the lemons on the table or the flowers curling on the hand-towels slung over the stove. Transforming the museum was a matter of careful observation that focused on crafting a narrative from the moment a patron stepped in the door and continued even beyond the museum itself.
